In Yuanrong’s view, law is the embodiment of the above saying, and is a powerful tool that lawyers wield on a daily basis.
As such, having been called to the Singapore bar in 2020 after graduating from the National University of Singapore, Yuanrong now hopes to put her legal expertise and knowledge to good use through helping and serving others.
To this end, Yuanrong has dealt with matters spanning insurance work, general commercial litigation and criminal defence work. She has assisted clients in a High Court trial involving a high-value claim levied by a leading operator and developer of customer data centres against its consultant engineer for breach of contractual duties. On the non-contentious side, Yuanrong also has experience in matters involving both private and public companies, having assisted clients with a spectrum of corporate, commercial and advisory work.
One of the highlights of her legal work was leading a project in NUS to draft and publish a guidebook that serves as a step-by-step guide for the general public for deputyship applications to the Family Justice Courts. The guidebook, currently in circulation in the Family Justice Courts, targets to reduce the legal costs of making deputyship applications for families who may not be able to afford legal counsel.
