Joshua has acquired a wide variety of experience in various areas and is adept at handling contentious disputes as well as non- contentious advisory matters for individuals, small and medium enterprises as well as large multi-national corporations.

Joshua regularly assists insurance companies in a wide range of insurance claims, from Motor Accident claims to Work Injury Compensation, Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and Property Damage claims.

While his main focus is on insurance law, his areas of practice extend to contractual disputes, building and construction disputes, employment law and tenancy disputes.

Joshua has also appeared and assisted in a number of trials and appeals at the State Courts and High Court.

Joshua has acted in the following notable cases and reported Judgments, amongst others:

  • Assisted in a trial on liability arising from a personal injury Road Traffic Accident claim at first instance in the District Court and at the appeal hearing in the High Court: Pirabakaran a/l M Muniandy v Mohamed Laili bin Hassan [2018] SGDC 264.
  • Assisted in representing a contractor to defend a claim by a worker for personal injuries sustained in a worksite accident: Nagarajan Murugesan v Grand Rich Electrical & Engineering Pte. Ltd. and others [2023] SGDC 64.
  • Conducted assessment of damages hearing for a personal injury claim as lead counsel: Chan Chee Mun (Chen Zhiwen) v Afipah bte Osman (sued as the litigation representative of Mohammad Syahrudy bin Atnan, a minor) [2021] SGMC 6.
  • Assisted in an application for an injunction against a company for, among other orders, a Court declaration that the said company’s call on a performance bond was unconscionable: Chian Jin Building Contractor Pte Ltd v Marine Park Development (Pte) Ltd and another [2021] SGDC 289.
  • Assisted in the advisory aspect of issues relating to the identity of personal representative(s) of a named-defendant who has passed away before commencement of proceedings: Marhani Binte Minhaj v Angus Ng and another [2022] SGDC 7
  • Assisted in representing a main-contractor to defend an adjudication application brought by a sub-contractor under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act (Cap 30B, 2006 Rev Ed) for alleged payments due under a sub-contract: ATC Pte Ltd v ATD Pte Ltd [2015] SCAdjR.
  • Conducted several trials on liability and assessment of damages hearings arising from personal injury claims.
  • Assisted in assessing and defending several claims for personal injuries and loss of dependency.
  • Assisted in defending claims brought against legal practitioners for alleged professional negligence at the High Court and State Courts.
  • Assisted in defending claims brought against real estate sales persons and agencies for alleged professional negligence at the High Court and State Courts.
  • Assisted in representing insurers in defending and prosecuting subrogated claims arising from property damage caused by water leakage and fire outbreaks.
